The temporary, tented village at Charlotte Square’s Georgian garden, in the heart of Edinburgh’s New Town, is the venue for the Edinburgh International Book Festival. The Festival brings writers, poets, thinkers, politicians, photographers and artists from 45 different countries to debate, discuss, argue and inspire.
Access to the venue is free, with paid special events. On a sunny day, the tented village can be a good place to stop for a coffee and settle in for a read.
The Edinburgh International Book Festival is one of the leading festivals of its kind in the world, held each year in August in the First City of Literature. The festival provides a great platform for authors who flock in their hundreds to the tented village in Edinburgh’s New Town in August at festival time.
